Service scope

System Architecture

Define functions, interfaces, and data flow between components.

Hardware & Software Integration

Connect devices and applications using suitable protocols and control logic.

Integrated Testing

Test component interactions and the system's overall behavior.

Connecting functions and interfaces

KNA connects machines, controllers, electronic devices, software, and data into a working system. Integration starts with each component's function, system owner, interfaces, and expected outcomes. Machines or applications from different vendors can be evaluated without assuming everything must be replaced.

Existing conditions, available documentation, access permissions, and vendor restrictions determine feasibility. Unknown interfaces require investigation before implementation scope can be confirmed.

Integration from equipment to applications

Work can cover mechanical interfaces, power distribution, inputs and outputs, controller communication, and application data exchange. Connection points and responsibilities need documentation so a subsystem change does not create conflicting assumptions elsewhere.

  • Sensors, actuators, motors, VFDs, PLCs, HMIs, and embedded controllers.
  • Gateways, industrial networks, data acquisition, IoT, and monitoring.
  • APIs, databases, dashboards, operator applications, and enterprise software.

Data flow and control sequences

Data must mean the same thing to its source and recipient. We discuss device identities, units, formats, timestamps, update frequency, and status and error mapping. Control commands require defined permissions, responses, interlocks, and communication-failure behavior.

Local, edge, server, or cloud architecture follows response and management requirements. Monitoring can connect to production, energy, laboratory, building, or research equipment according to available interfaces and data.

End-to-end system testing

After individual interfaces are tested, the complete sequence must be checked using agreed inputs, outputs, and failure conditions. Commissioning examines component interactions, not just connectivity. Interface documentation, configuration, and operating requirements are prepared within scope.

Prepare a system diagram, device and software inventory, protocols, drawings, sample data, available access, and integration objectives. KNA can discuss work stages, disruption risks, and acceptance methods before changes are made.
